Diving

Dive around your island to bring up fish and chests, and face the creatures that prowl the site.

Copied

/dive opens the dive menu for the sea around you. Each island has its own dive site, and some chapters have one of their own. When there is no site where you are, diving is locked. You can also open the menu from your chapter screen.

Press Dive to go down. Each dive costs energy, and you need some health left to go. After a dive, you have to catch your breath for a moment before the next one.

Each dive ends in one of these outcomes:

Outcome What happens
A catch You bring something up from the site: one of its fish, or sometimes a chest.
A miss It slips through your fingers and you come back up empty-handed.
An encounter A creature of the site attacks you and a fight starts.
A visit A friendly diver joins you: you earn experience and get the dive’s energy back.

Whether you catch what you found depends on your fishing rod, as with fishing: a better rod misses less. The rarity of the catch is drawn the same way as a regular cast, without bait or bonus.

  • Fish caught while diving go to your inventory and to your fish codex, where they are marked Found while diving (/fish codex). A species you never caught before counts as a discovery.
  • Each catch gives fish coins and experience. Adventure Premium increases the experience.
  • Some catches are a chest instead of a fish. It goes straight to your lootboxes.

A fight against a creature of the site plays like any other battle, and you can flee it.

  • When your level is well above the island’s, your strength is brought back near the island’s level for the fight, so a site stays a challenge.
  • Victory: berries and experience, and sometimes a chest. Sea shards are only given the first time you beat each creature.
  • Defeat: you lose all the health you took into the dive.
  • Only one fight at a time: if one is still going, use Resume the fight before diving again.

/dive stats shows your dives, catches, misses, chests, visits, the energy you spent, what you earned and your record against each creature.

Some chapters ask you to dive a number of times, or to win fights while diving.
