Navigation and Log Pose

Sailing to the next island, and crossing with the Log Pose.

Copied

When you finish the last chapter of an island, you can head to the next one. The way you get there changes as the story goes on.

At first, you travel with your ⛵ boat: start the crossing with /boat navigate, or with the button shown after your last chapter. The trip takes some time, and your boat cannot do anything else while it sails. A boat that ran aground has to be repaired, or wait, before it can leave again.

You can also sail back to an island you already reached, to replay its battles. Islands further in the story stay locked until you get there.

Later in the story, an island NPC hands you a Log Pose. From then on, you need it to reach the next island.

  1. Let it set. When you arrive on an island, the Log Pose has to record its magnetic field before you can leave. /logpose or your checklist tell you when it is ready. Finish every chapter of the island in the meantime.
  2. Cross. /logpose starts the crossing. Each step describes a situation at sea and asks What do you do?: pick the answer that gets your crew through. The answers are shuffled every time.
  3. Arrive. Get through every step and you land on the next island.

If you pick a wrong answer, the crossing fails and you stay on your island. A failed crossing can also cost you health or energy, or leave your boat aground for a while. You can try again once the Log Pose has recharged.
