Custom Commands

Create your own commands that send messages or manage roles.

A custom command runs one or more actions when a member types its name after the server prefix. Custom commands are prefixed commands only for now: they do not appear in the / menu.

Open it from the dashboard: Commands › Custom Commands.

Click Create Command and set the Command Name. The name cannot be changed after creation.

A command runs every action in its Actions list. Click Add Action and pick its Action Type. Each type can be used once per command.

Action type What it does
Send Message Replies in the channel where the command was typed
Send to Channel Sends a message in the Target Channel
DM User Sends the message in private messages
Add Role Gives the Target Role
Remove Role Takes the Target Role away
Toggle Role Gives the role, or takes it away if already there

Message actions have Message Content (text, embeds and buttons), Disable Mentions so the message pings no one, and Delete After in seconds (0 keeps the message).

Role actions apply to the Target Users: the Command Author, or the Mentioned Users. With mentioned users, Maximum Users Per Command caps how many members one command can change: 1 on the free plan, up to 20 with Premium.

Message content accepts the user and server variables, plus:

Variable Value
{args} The text typed after the command name
{@user}, {#channel}, {&role} Mentions a member, channel or role, by name or ID
{:emoji} A server emoji, by name or ID
{mention.users} The members mentioned in the command
{repliedUser} The member the command author replied to
{user.displayname}, {user.random} The author’s display name, or a random member’s name
{channel.name}, {server.membercount} The channel name, the server member count
{prefix} The server prefix
{delete} Deletes the message that ran the command
{dm} Sends the reply in private messages
{nsfw} Cancels the command outside age-restricted channels
  • Required Arguments: the number of arguments the command needs to run.
  • Delete Original Message: deletes the message that triggered the command.
  • User Cooldown and Guild Cooldown: wait time per member, and wait time shared by the whole server. Both are off by default.

Allowed Roles and Allowed Channels limit who can run the command and where. Leave them empty to allow everyone everywhere. Ignored Roles and Ignored Channels block it instead.
